Tavricheskiy park

Historical monument of the landscape architecture of Saint-Petersburg was found as a residence park of the Tavrichesky palace, built in 1783-1789. The holder of the residence was the heroic participant of triumphant wars count G.A.Potemkin. The residence was built on his private funds. Later is was redeemed by Catherine the IInd and presented as a tzar gift together with title Tavricheskiy grand duke.

«Water world museum» — is one of the youngest and modern museums in saint-Petersburg. Museum is placed at the territory of the main water-pipe station, that was fount out in 1861. It was raised by the Ernst Shuberskoy and Ivan Merc project. To the 300 anniversary of the City the tower was reconstructed as a museum and exhibitional complex.

Tavricheskiy palace

The one of the most well known monuments of Russian Classicism of the 18th Century. Tavricheskiy palace were raised during 1783 and 1789 according to the project of the famous russian architect I.E. Starov by the order of Catherine the 2nd. It was built for her favourite friend — Grigoriy Potemkin. The sum spent for construction reaches 400 000 of gold rubles. The name was given to the palace at the time when, in 1787, the title of Grand Duke Tavricheskiy was honored to Grigoriy Potemkin. It happends after the Crimea lands were owned by the Russian Empire. The names of Tavricheskaya street, tavricheskiy lane and Tavricheskiy park were also found out from the name of the Palace.

The majestic Smolnii Cathedral of Franchesco Bartholomeo Rastrelli were raised at the time of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna and it was completed by the architect V.P. stasov at Emperor Nikolai I. This charming cathedral is called the Pearl of Saint-Petersburg baroque style buildings. After the Tzars decree it was called Smolnii Cathedral in all educational organizations and schools. Exactly at the time when the construction began, by the decree of Empress Elizabeth in the Northern Capital of Russia the five-domed churches construction was reinstated as the official for the Russian Orthodoxal Church. Smolnii Cathedral is on of the most rich and beautiful architectural monuments in the world by the expressiveness of its composition and the exterior.
